Because we were not created in God's physical image. As a spirit he has no physical, nor a tail and big flappy ears.

We are made in his moral image in that we have the ability to understand moral and spiritual concepts and are responsible for your behavior.

If you read in Genesis where man was created in God's image, it states that he was made to have dominion over the earth and animals. He was placed "in charge" and will answer for the duty to God.

It is in our ability to be "in charge" - make moral decision - that we are like God.

Who told you that God has tails and big flappy ears. If you are talking about Lord Ganesha, please understand that Ganesha was once guarding the door under the instructions from his mother Parvati who had told him that no one should be allowed to enter her premises while she was taking a bath. In the meantime Lord Shiva arrived and wished to enter, to which lord Ganesha refused, Lord Shiva got so angry that he cut off Ganesha's head. Later Parvati implored Lord Shiva to bring Ganesha back to life, at that time only elephant airavat was around whose head was placed on Ganesha's head. Before this surgery, Ganesha was a handsome young man. Please get you mythology right, my dear.
