I wait tables, make less than 20K a year. I know I can fill out the IRS 1040, but since I make so little, should I fill out the IRS1040A or the IRS104EZ?

What are the differences? Thanks for your help!

If you don't have any dependents, and all of your income is from your job, and all of your tips are reported to your employer, you could use the EZ form. The tax calculation works out the same no matter which form you use, but the more complicated forms have extra lines on them for other situations that some people - if you use the more complicated forms, you'd just have a lot of blank lines. 1040 is the most complicated, 1040A is in the middle, and 1040EZ is the simplest. You can use any form that covers your personal situation.

you can probably do EZ. at beginning of EZ instructions, it says 'do i qualify?' and then lists qualifications. if not, then move to 1040a, if no qualify, then to 1040. if that doesn't cut it, file a 50 page return like i did last year.
