I have a tricky situation.I have a family member who is separated from her husband..They have a 10 year-old boy who neither of them want. They don't physically abuse the child but mentally they do..I have just found out that last weekend, the father and some other people went out motor bike riding with the boy.The father and other adults were all drunk. There was an accident where one of the adults rode his bike straight into the child's bike. The adult was taken to hospital a couple of hours later, but he lied about how the accident happened, so the police didn't investigate..One of my family members is the Godmother to the little boy and i was wondering if there is something that she can do.I was told that a godparent has the right to take the child if they think it is in the child's best interest..Is this true? Or is there something else that can be done?

Ah what a shame, poor kid. If you think that the Godmother will agree with you about what these inconsiderate tossers are doing to this poor child, then I would have a long talk with her about what you can both do to help him. I think I would report them to social services (here's hoping that you have a good bunch near to you!), tell the support workers your concerns for his mental well being and from the sounds of what else happened with the bikes, his physical safety too. Get the Godmother to do the same. If possible, visit the Social Services together. Two people there at the same time, has a much stronger impact than two telephone calls possibly to different social workers.

Good luck and I really hope that the poor child doesn't suffer any more. Well done you for having the courage to speak up.

Yes that is true....The godparent can legally take the little boy only if the godparent had a legal certification stating she is the god parent .For example : You have a best friend and she going to have a baby and says I want you to be the godparent and leave at that, and you call the baby your godchild o.k., But to legally be someone godparent you go through the church and have that baby Christan or baptism that's where you get the certification from it has both parents name on it and godparents name on it .And it states on that paper godparents rights, and one of the right is if the godparent feels the child is being abuse she can get custody of that child. I know I did it. But I gave the child back after the mother got help and got on feet and was able to care for the child again..

Go straight to the police and tattle on him. That child needs help ASAP. And how lovely that both parents don't want him. Tell the Godmother to take over. He doesn't need to live in that kind of environment. If the police won't help, call the child abuse hotline and tell them the story.

The God parent could be charged with kidnapping if they take the child.

Family services, or child welfare should be notified so that they can begin the process with an investigation to determine what is in the best interest of the child.

Call the child welfare department of Social Services. They will investigate the situation. In the US, a Godmother has no legal rights unless it is written in a will.

Boy is safe with mother if she want to keep him with her because there is different type of problems in world and for these reason a women can't carry his son with her. But as a father he can understand this and he should give care to him because he is fully responsible to this situation and boy is his responsibility now.

It is true if a couple taking decision to live separate from each other then it spoils children life but there is no control on natural calamities and relationships.

1. You are a 3rd person to this, so be away from it
2. Father would love his kid, don't make plans to seperate the kid.
3. Godmother cannot replace a father or mother.
4. Please stay out of this .....

The child belong to the parents and no one else should interfere and seperate the child from the parents.
