I can't get cat shampoo in my country and poor kitty is really dirty from moving to a new house.
Any ideas?

I live in Egypt and postage and customs would make it extremely expensive. Will get some baby shampoo and dilute it. She got really dirty when granite was being sanded and she just can't get it off and I don't want too much to get in her system.

Regular shampoo can harm the eyes of an animal, it can cause severe damage to the cornea and retna. The best thing to do is to get some baby shampoo, it is made with the least abrasive soap so that it does not harm a babies eyes. Make sure that your kitten is thoroughly rinsed off and if at all possible do not get it in it's eyes. Do not let your kitten paw at it's face until you are positive that there is no more soap on the kitten. If the kitten seems to be pawing at it's eyes after the bath, take it to the vet and they will give it an antibiotic to keep out an infection. The baby shampoo should not cause any abrasion but to be safest, do not let the soap come into contact with the kittens face.

The PH levels of human shampoo irritates a cat's skin. If you can't get the special cat shampoo and use Johnson's baby shampoo, just use the smallest amount to get a minimum amount of lather and rinse with plenty of (warm) water- perhaps with a hand held shower nozzle - to get the dust out.
I hope kitty is happy in her new house and enjoys the treats you are going to reward her with after her bath :)

Use a very gentle hair shampoo or dish detergent and mix it with water to make a light solution that you can pour on kitten while you hold it. Rinse thoroughly and love the kitten while you dry it in a big warm towel.

Cats are animals that normally clean themselves. A lot if times they have a sickness and should see the vet if they do not clean themselves. Cats hate water; do not give it a bath. Use a wash cloth and water, to wipe it down. Good luck!

Baby shampoo is fine and doesn't need diluting, but do rinse very well.

you can actually... but it is really strong... you can make the cat bald (sort of)... just buy a special shampoo for the cat so that you can assure yourself that the shampoo is safe for your cat... glad to answer your question!

Maybe if it's real, real mild shampoo. Can you not order cat shampoo online?
