Well, the absolute easiest way is to use a cube-tap to provide another outlet and plug it in there.
Other choices include
getting an X-10 computer interface and lamp module (like the 16 I have in my house),
Using a parallel port to set bits on an I/O module that turns on a relay that lights the bulb
Buying an internal I/O module or USB module that skips fooling with the parallel port and learning how that works.
Buy a Parallax computer on a miniboard that connects to a computer with a serial port and has output bits and power interfaces.

Yes you can! But what type of lamp do you want to light? A small 1.5Volt lamp or a 250Volt one?
