Yes, you will need to eat each day, and find a place to sleep.
In many countries you can just put a tent to the side of the road, but in some you need to pay a place at a campsite. And in some you will need to pay for a hotel, even if you are willing to sleep in a ditch.
And your bike will need repairs and/or replacements.
There are many stories about traveling long distance, by bike and otherwise, on the web, just search and read a few. Or go to your local library or bookstore and see a few books.
You will also need a proper health insurance and I would advise to get a travel insurance too, (you will need a special one, as you will be away longer than the three months they often have for a maximum.)
And you will need money for visa and 'gifts' for officials you meet in many countries.

Yes, especially if you plan on flying alot. Air carriers charge to take your bike onboard.
