Mutual means something that is done together or shared. Examples are: Mutually satisfying, mutually beneficial, mutual funds (a group of stocks shared by all the fund holders).
A mutual friendship would be a friend you share with another.

If a person considers me a friend and would feel comfortable calling on me for support or help at a difficult time, but I would not be willing to do the same because I do not trust their judgment, etc., then that is NOT a mutual friendship.

It can mean one of two things: (1) Person C is a friend of Person A and a friend of Person B. This means Person A and Person B have a mutual friend. (2) Person A and Person B respect each other equally as friends; therefore they have a mutual friendship.

it's a friend that two people know share it's not like linda has a friend sarah and another friend brook its like brook linda and sarah are all friends , although in some cases brook and linda dont have to like eachother for them to have a mutual friend. it can be like sarah is friends with linda and shes friends with brook so linda and brook's mutual friend is sarah i don't know if that helps kinda confusing

you dont hate eachother but its more than just knowing them.. you talk to them and occasionly hang out but your not like best firends or even really good friend.. well at lest thats what it is for me..
