It is my understanding that bourbon is whisky make in the us and therefore should be marked as such with the spelling whiskey with the e. Why doesnt makers mark follow suit? I have my suspicions, but if anybody has some facts that'd be great...I havent even found out from the website.

From Wikipedia:
"Interestingly, Maker's Mark is one of the only American made whiskies to be spelled in the traditional form, "whisky," as opposed to "whiskey." Technically, in United States law, the official American spelling is "whiskey," but an exception exists to allow it be spelled without an "e." Maker's Mark does this as an homage to the creators Scottish heritage."

The UK and Japan traditionally spell theirs as "whisky" while the US and Canada traditionally spell it as "whiskey". I think for an American company such as Makers Mark to spell their product without the "e" is just a marketing ploy.

Whisky is traditionally a Scottish drink, however, whisky is spelt differently in the USA. Bourbon is called whiskey.
I'm from Scotland, but unfortunately I don't partake whisky, I prefer Spanish red wine. I now live in Spain.

Its so good, they dont need the extra e. Also by saving money on printing, they can put that money into making better whiskey.

Look on the back of the bottle... See where it is made.... Maybe they don't spell it with an "e" in that country.

Marketing research has discovered that it is better to misspell at times to bring more attention to your product.
