Lets thank a moment. they follow a religion that teaches that God is willing to spare a tiny fraction of humanity from eternal torment only if they are willing to have faith in the Murder of his"only begotten son"(That he hand delivered to his murderers!) Their most sacred sacrament is a act of stylized cannibalism and blood drinking.and their most sacred symbol is a sign of sadistic torture. Further they teach that all of the above comes from a loving Father God,that never-the-less plays favorite and has a" chosen people".
The fact there are as many decent ones as there are seems the real surprise.

Its really a cultural thing. Christians are raised to believe they are hated and mistreated. Their very religion is based on martydom. When one is submerged in a culture that teaches they are reviled it would seem to me to be a natural reaction to revile others.

it starts with a little impotent venting like you're going to hell
spoken with the grandiose delusion by proxy of the man made god and then it escalates to what you are referring to .

I don't know any hateful Christians....
Its just the tv evangelists.
Why do people watch so much tv and gather all their thoughts and opinions from there?

Actually, a better question would be, "why are so many people hateful"?
