I'd agree with Cosmic Dust. I would say though that Christianity is the front runner, and that it has itself to thank to thank for that by holding to both the old and the new testament, which are heavily contradictory of each other. Anybody who bothers to study the bible, along with the history of its compilation and the numerous texts that were excluded, has to either start doing philosphical backflips to make things work, or concede that the bible is a mish-mash of old myths, tribal histories and quasi-neo-platonism (I don't think that's a word, but I hope it gets the point across.)

Some would argue that Judaism and Islam are in the same boat, but I would say not. Judaism takes only the Tanakh as inspired. Islam, sees the bible as distorted and only follows the Kor'an. Both also have associated practices (The Rabinnical commentaries for Judaism, Islam the Hadith) Since both are entirely literalist in their interpretation of their faiths, it's a lot easier, I think, to take it on faith.

In a free modern society, where people are educated, atheism grows the fastest, no matter the religion. So Christianity is producing more atheists than any religion now. If Muslim societies would allow religious freedom and modernize, Islam would catch with Christianity in this regard.

Peace.

the reality of life and knowledge the only religion that actually produces Atheism would have to be an Atheistic religion as therevada Buddhism or the impact of the folly of religion in light of sanity . Few religions actually produce anything more than a false bottom and delusion for a goal whether good or bad . people revel in the vicarious feeling of protection by the awesome power of a monster being on their side .Atheists ternd to be more down to earth and looking for real solutions in real and tangible terms .

i think it is more science then anything else.
we learn more about the world how it was made and where we all did come from.
you understand that things in the bible could not really happen and view the bible as a book of fiction wrote by some cleaver men over the years.

people these days are more realist and see things how they are and was in the beginning and how things developed over the years through science.

so i tend to think that no one religion is to blame for people not believing in any forms of god.

A religion that insists on 'blind faith', imposes impractical rituals that do not suit the present day routine, threatens with divine punishments for non-adherence of 'dictums' , even tries to violate social laws under the garb of religious practices, causing disharmony to other people, etc, tends to raise to many doubts in the minds of people born to such religions, and causes a tendency of revolt, forcing people towards atheism. Religious teachers, preachers or leaders have to perform a very significant pro-active role to prevent people leaning towards atheism.

Which religion 'produces' more atheists?

By a long shot, Christianity. Without question, the leading maker of atheists in the USA are Fundamentalists, who exude hatred, bigotry, intolerance, radical and primitive beliefs.

I would say christianity. I was raised as a catholic and I know many atheists come from there, but it is only a part of christianity. I am sure there are just as many or more who come from those parts. That is my opinion but it is hard to say as there is no real way of telling.

A very well organized religion creates more atheists .This is because the people are so busy in collecting money and bringing together people they forget the true essence of religion and just a mass mania of cultured beliefs remain this is real atheism!
