I wave as a sign of my gratefulness for the work they do to keep me and my family safe. Unless they have the lights on and they are following me....then I freak and get really angry at myself!

The first thing I do is look at my speedometer then immediately put on the brakes if I am going too fast! If there is one behind me and I am not speeding, I turn off at the next available spot so he passes me up then I get back on the road! Nothing is more frightening than seeing a cop in your rear view mirror when you are going over the speed limit! This is why I always try to pay attention to the speed limit signs and how fast I am going!

Depends where I am at, if it is in Chicago or one of the Suburbs where I have police friends and family, nothing. If it is a place where I don't know any cops, slow down and watch em in the rear view.
And as a rule I don't speed and always wear a seatbelt so it is not like I'm breaking any laws, it is just that with cops... Some are good and some are scum, better to be wary of the scum that you have no connections against.

I have been a police officer, and I currently work in a jail. I wear the exact same uniform to work that a patrol deputy wears...and I still get that shiver of fear for a split second when I see a squad behind me.
Human nature! I always check my speed to make sure it is low enough.

I like cops. They are my heroes. When I was nursing, I had the pleasure of working with them frequently. They are seriously unsong heroes. Whenever you see a cop while you are driving, just imagine what the highways would be like without them. Drive safely.

go about your business...turn your favorite song on & sing your heart out! you know, lots of the cops you see...there's a pretty good chance that they dont even acknowledge your vehicle...other than in obvious cases like where your best friend is leaning out the window spraying alcoholic puke all down the side of your car. just remember, they're not auto-pilots..they have to watch the road just like the civilians.

even after having worked in law enforcement my first reaction is still to take my foot off the gas and check the speedometer. i think its a pretty common reaction because every driver (even if they havent been caught by police) has caught themselves speeding without intending to.

It's natural. We all know we go over the speed limit a litttttle bit. And, sometimes, we think our car came to a complete stop, lol.
I look at my speedometer first, if I see them behind me, lol.
