Out of respect. I intentionally capitalize God when referring to the God of Abraham and lower case when referring to any other.

Indeed it is done out of respect, but it is also done for linguistics reasons as well....

If you look in your Bible (which should also be capitalized as well as Word) You will see two uses of the word "lord". One is Lord, and the other is LORD.

I would suggest 2 books to better understand:

1. The Complete Word Study New Testament by Spiros Zodhiates

2. The Complete Word Study Old Testament by Baker, Rake & Kemp

When you look at the Jewish New Testament where the name of the Holy Spirit is "Ruach HaKodesh", it is capitalized. But he & his are not. Differnet languages and translations play by different rules.

Respect for the Deity of the triune God is a gimmie, but there is also a long translation theory behind it as well.

The same reason we capitalize the word President when we talk about the President of the United States, but not the president of a corporation or a college. Same reason we capitalize someones name. When we talk about God, we are referring to one individual by name (aka it's a proper noun)--when we talk about 'a god,' it is just a common noun.

G-d is capitalized to distinguish between the name and the noun. A god is a deity, but G-d is a specific deity and that is G-d's name (or one of depending on your religious inclinations). Jeshua is a proper name, like G-d. You capitalize your name do you not? Same thing.

As far as him being capitalized, I'm not sure.

I capitalize out of respect and love. Just like your name would be capitalized. I do not capitalize satan though because I do not care about him.

jesus is a first name, so it ought to be capitalized.

I can get by just fine without capitalizing the word god - unless, maybe, you mean the christian god, the one whose name seems to actually be "god".

Too much brainwashing at church ;););)

I can understand using a capital letter in front of a proper name like Jebus - but the rest are just parts of an outdated, hokey fairytale...

I don't capitalise god and him, but Jesus, yes, because it is a name.
