After your marriage certificate is returned to you by the courthouse, you take it to the social security office to get a new social security card. After that, you do your driver's license, and then notify all your banks, credit card companies, doctor's offices, the post office, the library, anywhere you have an account, and anywhere else you can think of.
Hopefully, it's not difficult, because as soon as my certificate gets to me, I'll be starting that process!

Well there are a couple of trips...first the social security office so that you can order a new card with your name on it. word of advice... go really early when they first open up or you will be there all day. then to the DMV to change your name then the post office...you should change you mailing name a couple of weeks before you get married.

We went to the Social Security office in the nearest town where I lived, gave them a copy of my driver´s license and marriage certificate, and I got a new SS card within two weeks.
Also, go online and get a form informing the IRS of this change too. I forgot to do this, and they sent me a form which I have to send back to the today to change my information.

Take the wedding certificate with you to the Social Security office so you can get an updated card.
Then go to the DMV and get your license changed.
