There was a question a few days ago about whether atheists ever ask, "Could I be wrong?" One that more applies to me is, "Does your heart ever melt towards God?"

Yes, mine has recently because of spending time with two loving and rational Christians, one my best friend, the other one of his friends. Well I felt my heart becoming more open so I just asked God, "If you're real, have him call me right now so I can discuss these things." Well that never happened. So tonight I started talking to him and felt it again, but I got nothing but divided attention and apathy. I got mad so I started instant messaging him bible quotes that showed him what he was doing wrong and how I felt. They went totally over his head. So why the hell should I ever believe this when every time recently, I get apathy and no attention from those who are supposed to be evangelists? In the very least he could at least spur his followers to at least give attention to those that are seeking, should he not?

You started instant messaging God? Who is the atheist here? I'm confused.

OK I'm paying attention, but I'm not sure what it is you want to know. Are you saying that the lack of attention from this friend is proof that God doesn't exist? maybe it is just proof he was busy, or preoccupied with something and didn't take note of your interest.

You said these are loving rational friends. You said your heart is melting because of them. God didn't make them perfect. If he did, you might turn to them more than you would turn to Him. Maybe God wants you to turn to Him alone. Something to think about.

Sometimes God leads people to shut up so you can hear God himself. Instead of asking God to have your friend call you, etc., ask God to do something, leave it up to Him, to answer your questions in a way that you will know the answer came from Him. God is very creative. When you give Him free reign, you often find yourself sitting back and saying, "Oh, wow..."

So being an atheist means your heart is frozen? Atheism is just the lack of theism, not a bath in liquid nitrogen.

Maybe you feel that theism can offer you satisfaction? And your friends aren't trying to convert you, because maybe they are tolerant of your point of view? Why would you want to change them?

God answers prayer in His own time. And I find that making demands of God doesn't usually work. If you have questions...you should just ask and I am sure he will be more than happy to answer. I hope and pray your heart continues to melt.

You are trying to get to God through another person, seek God by your self through prayer.Just speak to Him from your heart. You have to accept Him by faith, not by things such as phone calls,if you are sincere He will reveal Himself to you, you will '"Know" in you heart He is real.

Can't say I've ever had my heart melt toward god. Sounds messy.

It's because man made God and not the other way around

There is no god. Emotions do not provide evidence of one, nor validate claims.

BTW, "rational Christian" is an oxymoron; had they not ignored rationality at least in that part of their life, they wouldn't buy that myth.

Maybe you just want spirituality and are looking in the wrong place.
