Ok, I just bought a 190 mustang a couple months ago and I was looking into fixing the heater in it cause it gets pretty cold over here. Anyway, the car blows air but there are components missing from the AC and the heater. What Im trying to figure out are what these two metal hoses are that come through the fire wall into the engine compartment. They are on the passenger side and one is on top of the other. I think they are for the heater but Im not sure. Does anyone have any idea what these are for?

There should be 2 all rubber heater hose's that run to the firewall. Look on the water pump (where the engine fan is) to see what hoses come off there. You will have a radiator hose and you should have a smaller hose going up towards the firewall, this would be a heater hose. There should be another hose going out from the firewall back into the intake manifold. Sometimes when the heater core leaks people will bypass the heater core and run the heater hose back toward the engine. SO no hot air from the heater. The AC should be separate hoses which are hard lines going to the AC compressor under the hood and sometimes wrapped in black foam.

there should be rubber hoses for the heater and metal ones for the ac.

added: if it's been disconnected, it probably leaks and will have to be replaced : (

That's the heater core. If it's disconnected it probably leaks. Good luck

Are they big enough to put your finger in? (do NOT try it) if they are then YES they are heater,,,if not then they are airconditioning.
