Your dogs can't get worms from raw meat and they're lucky dogs to be getting them! Those are delicious, calcium-rich treats and good for keeping their teeth clean besides.

DON'T start boiling them. Raw bones are soft and break into crumblier pieces with rounded edges. Cooked bones break into sharper splinters. Try it yourself if you want proof. You just have to peek at the bones your dogs have been chewing to see the difference.

Raw turkey necks are also GREAT treats because of all the small rounded bits of bone -- practically a toothbrush.

If you are getting them from the butcher, they should be fine - why - because the butcher butcheres the cow and the meat is in his counter for you to buy. If the bones (and any meat remaining) have worms, the meat will be infected and you can't sell infected meat to people - you get shut down.

I would NOT boil them. While boiling isn't as bad as baking, cooked bones have a greater liklihood of splintering and causing problems. Raw bones are great for cleaning teeth and also for allowing your dog's anal glands to express naturally (expect hard as rock poo coming out the other end!)

It's not raw bone that splinters, it's cooked! Don't give cooked bones, especially cooked chicken bones, to dogs. Knuckle bones are probably ok, but they can still splinter a bit.

Raw food can be fine for your dog as long as it's from a good source. I was skeptical when I first heard about people feeding raw diets, but they can be nutritionally balanced and very good for pets with allergies to normal food, as well as for pets without problems.

I put a website at the bottom that has some info on raw food (Bones And Raw Food). I didn't see anything about worms, but I think as long as you stay away from raw pork you'll probably be ok.

These bones will not give your dogs worms. These are great for helping to keep their teeth clean and white! You already know how much they love getting these bones. Don't cook them, they are safe for the dogs raw but once you cook them, the bones get brittle and the dogs are more likely to be able to break a splinter of it off. Dangerous. Cooked bones are very bad for the dogs, raw bones are fine and healthy.

While it's not the best idea to give a dog bones if you do insist on it then please for the dogs health cook it. Raw meat in any form contains food borne pathogens than can make your dog very sick. The only way to rid the bone of these pathogens is to cook it. Animals slaughtered in the wild are consumed at body temperature so they are already fighting off disease. Don't give your dog raw foods.

raw bones are best, and of raw bones, non-weight bearing bones, which it sounds like the bone you are describing is. The reason those aren't best, raw or otherwise is they are harder and thicker and a dog can break a tooth on them or swallow a piece that can be sharp even when raw.
When I give my dogs raw meaty bones I usually give them chicken back, sometimes necks. It's true that if raw, bones are safer in general.
I don't give my dogs any rawhides bones because one of my dogs got very sick from them. She tended to chew them up quick and swallow big pieces. Not to mention that rawhides you buy in the store can be bleached (if white in appearance) or compressed ones sometimes contain formaldehyde.
