I bought Frontline for my puppy and it did not work.I live in Thailand now and I was wondering if the bugs different here?
I dripped the Frontline on it's neck and down its back.I watched it soak in and not run out. After 15 minutes I brushed the medicine deep into its fur and 3 days later she still has fleas and ticks.I am wondering if because she sometimes plays with a filthy street dog that that dog is just too bug ridden and they keep jumping on my dog.How does frontline work?I thought it did something to the dog's blood to make the bugs stay away. What can I do to get rid of these bugs?Flea collars in Thailand don't work at all.The bugs made their home right underneath it.Help!

Tips for Getting the Best Results from Frontline

1. Make sure to bathe your dog in a good flea shampoo or dip. I prefer all natural products, such as Natural Animal. It is safe for you and your pet and kills all fleas currently on the animal.

2. While your dog is getting his/her spa treatment at the groomers. Take this time to set off a few flea bombs in your house. Make sure to wash your dogs bedding. Also, it might now hirt to spray some flea spray or powder in the yard.

3. Frontline works best when it can mix in with the animals natural skin oils, so for best results do not apply the product for at least 24 hours after the pet has had a bath. You can give the dog a Capstar pill. Capstar kills any flea that bites the animal for 24 hours. It helps greatly!

4. When you apply it, separate the furr and pour directly onto the skin in between it's shoulder blades where it can't reach to lick the product off. Do not brush or rub it in, just let it absorb into the skin on its own.

NOTE: You may still see fleas on the dog. The flea has to actually jump on the dog and bite to get killed.

i don't know what thai bugs are like, but i know that with frontline, you just put it in one spot on the neck, not drizzle down the back and no brushing it in. it will coat he animal within 24 hrs on its own. you might not have done a concentrated enough dosage to work. it doesn't change the blood (that's "sentinel") - frontline just makes fleas avoid the animal then kill them if they are there. a really bad infestation might need another dosage a month after the first one.

give her a flea bath (any soap will kill fleas if left on for several minutes, it doesn't have to be a super-strong flea shampoo), go through her fur with a flea comb to get all the fleas & ticks off that you can find & try frontline again when it's been a month. and keep her away from her street buddies until these are under control. :-)

good luck!

Flea collars don't work in any country.

Sounds like you've got a serious infestation. Since fleas spend more time in the environment than they do on the dog, (they only come to the dog to feed) you need to treat the environment as well.

Wash everthing in hot soapy water. Get a flea fogger that contains an Insect Growth Regulator, and treat your home, and also get yard spray that has the IGR in it. Products without an IGR will only leave you another outbreak in a couple weeks.

Where did you get your Frontline? If you bought it online or somewhere, it may not even be true Frontline. The companies that make these products only distribute through veterinarians.

Well first, make sure you are applying it properly. You should part the fur with one hand, and apply the liquid directly to the skin, not on the fur. You should apply it to a spot where your dog can't lick at, such as the base of the neck, and you can apply the entire tube into the same place--you don't have to spread it. Then, do not brush it in--you have to let it dry. It gets absorbed through the skin and then spreads throughout the body between the skin and lipid layer, then gets expelled through the fur. It sounds to me like you may have just gotten it all on her fur, which will only kill the fleas and ticks that jump on those actual spots on her fur.

If you *did* apply it properly, then just double check the dose to make sure it is the right size.

Also keep in mind that if your house is infested, it will take some time to get rid of the flea population. And frontline does not kill ticks instantly--they have to be latched on for a few hours before they die.

Get your dog a flea dip first at a dog grooming place. You have to wash all bedding and spray carpets and furniture. Any where the dog has been in the house. Even under furniture as fleas will jump and larvea can live up to one year. Then use Frontline. You have to pull fur back and place drops on skin. The places you picked are correct. Keep away from that other mutt.
