Why isn't it one of the Seven Deadly Sins, or one of the Ten Commandments?

Must be a 'lesser' sin, eh?

Jethrojimbob said it well... Just because childmolestation and beastiality are not listed in the Ten Commandments doesn't mean they are not sins, or are lesser sins. There is more to the Bible than just the Ten Commandments. Homosexuality is repeatedly mentioned, and never as a positive or O.K. practice. To the contrary. Whole cities were destroyed because of it.I will leave you with just a few verses that address the subject...
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Leviticus 20:13-If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Romans 1:18-28 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the trth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and God head , so that they are without excuse, 21 because although they knew God , they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools,23 and changeed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man - and birds - and four footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature,rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. It is very patently implied in the Ten Commandments, actually. The seventh is against adultery, which is defined as sex with anyone who you are not married to. Since by Mosaic law two people of the same sex could not marry each other, any sexual encounter between them would be an act of adultery.

Seven deadly sins were a concoction of Catholicism. If you actually look at them, there are just seven subcategories of 'false gods,' and therefore all would fall under the First Commandment.

I would hardly consider a sin that was punishable by death to be 'lesser.' Though the only two stories we have in the Pentateuch of someone being stoned for breaking a Commandment were the Third (Blasphemy) and the Fourth (Breaking the Sabbath). Other than Sodom and Gomorrah, I can't think of any specific incident in the Bible where anyone was killed specifically for being homosexual.

Yeah I would say it is a lessor sin than the ones listed on the 10 commandments or the 7 deadly sins. I mean I feel there are degrees of sin. The Bible talks about King David's great sin. Well if there were no degrees of sin then how could he have committed a sin that was greater compared to his other sins. I mean he did sin more than just that 1 time. So yes there are degrees of sin but homosexuality is a sin, but to what degree I can not say exactly though the Bible does talk about man who lay with men and women who lay with women.

Homosexuality is a blatant sin because it is obviously against nature as God created it. When the Big ten were written Sodom and Gomorrah had already been BBQ-ed over 400 years before for homosexuality, so it didn't need to be reiterated. But it is included in the Torah ( Genesis- Deuteronomy) as one of the 603 additional laws of Moses making a grand total of 613 laws. The penalty was death for engaging in this perverted practice. So no not a lesser sin, but sin worthy of death. In fact the penalty is still death, eternal
suffering death in hell for all who refuse to repent of this sin.

I believe that lust is one of the seven deadly sins. Furthermore, there are all sorts of vile things human beings do (bestiality, child molestation, etc.), but just because these are not listed as part of the Ten Commandments doesn't make them "better" in God's eyes.

the first commanment is to love your God will all your heart and mind and ability. when u do that u do not want to hurt or be disrespectful. the NT clearly says that our body is the temple of the Lord. when God created Adam God gave him Eve and declared for all eternity that a man will leave his parents and cleave to his wife and they will be one flesh. they will be considered as one before God.

we cannot go and pevert all this and say unnatural unions between same sex etc is not sin.

there is no such thing as lesser sin and bigger sin, sin is sin and needs to be forgiven and corrected.

. It is in the ten commandments.Thou shalt not commit adultery. Since marriage consist of a man and woman, God was making it clear that there was to be no cheating between the two. The bible speaks repeatedly about men lying with men will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

It is what it is.

For those who are trying to live the Ten Commandments; The Bible I read says that they ALL fail at it. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to Christians that tell you that you have to live by the Ten Commandments. Listen to those who tell you that Jesus paid the price for our INABILITY to live by the Law.

Is it fun? Then it's a sin. Homosexuality is focused on because that draws attention away from their constant breaking of the ten commandments.

tuberoot's got the answer! I agree with him, sin is sin, but how does your heart look inside, you would only know that, and Jesus loves you no matter what! So do I!
