Nobody. Nuclear winter and the end of the planet. I think the cockroach answer is the closest to the truth. Scorpions also did pretty well in the nuclear tests in Nevada.

It depends on what you mean by winning ! Winning what just think of the massive damage all over the world ! You can't live very long maybe a month ! food supply , air suppy , fires all over the world billions dead ! Radiation every where ! Tidal Waves , Weather Extremes all over the world > Heat from the direct bomb over 1 million degrees ! Hospitals Destroyed Dr Dead buildings destoyed. Continued 2nd explosions all over the word and fire . Submarines still bombing targets that were destroyed ! no where to go. So who wins ? nobody we all die we all lose ! If any of you crazy bastards think there is a winner > you should be the first one

your likes and dislikes mentioned in the hint would not have significant influence on the decision of such conflict.
Who invades whom? Russia probably does not have capacity for amphibious assault of US territory and none of both states mentioned has enough airlift capacity for a direct attack of the opponent.
Conflicts of these two states fought by their respective puppets tought us the lesson that Russian/or eastern ideologies do not respect human life as a value but only as a comodity to be consumed.
Well certainly the winner of such conflict wouldn't be the common russian people, and we can only guess who of the two states would win the war.
In case of nuclear all out war it is irrelevant to speak about a winner of such a conflict - there will be none.

Neither would prevail. Moreover, nuclear development and architecture is infinitely expensive to sustain.
The greatest war of all regarding this topic is the one titled, "sustainability."
'That simple, which is why more and more the nuclear focus the world over is waning, even North Korea has now stood down from war-mongering: they found that while they have planned to defend themselves and destroy others, they have all but destroyed their own citizens due to the austerities levied upon them as required to sustain nuclear technology, which citizens would in fact be the very ones who would otherwise be required to wield the nuclear technology.
In final, there would be no one available to run the shop due to lack of food, provisions and modernities afforded in general.
So -- no one would prevail.

Russia will attack the US from its nuclear submarines stationed off our shores and will prevail.
By the way, you shouldn't love Russia - Russia is a repressive authoritarian state. It is a very disgusting country.

the US...battle harden, professional soldiers, unlike the conscripts in the Russian military.
plus technologically our weapons are second to none, that is why no one will fight us in a classical war, but in the guerrilla type fights, since everyone knows that in a classical fight with our tanks and air power they loose!

It is not because our soldiers won't fight, it is because the politicians and citizens of this country have no back bone. When they see some of our soldiers getting killed they want to back out. Don't ever doubt the integrity and resolve of our Military.

It depends on what type of warfare, but I'm pretty sure the U.S. would win. However, Russia does have better and more reliable equipment (AK's).
