I hope your Doc asked some qualifying questions before telling you this. What are your behaviours with food and/or meals and exercise? Do you eat healthy foods and enough food during meals, do you keep the food in your system (not intentionally vomit to "avoid" calorie intake) or exercise compulsively to "work off" calories. You do sound as if you are possibly dangerously underweight. I hope your Doc took some blood and urine samples from you to determine other possible causes or complications of your weight loss. If you are causing your own weight issues then you need to realize that it will ruin your health and stay with you as you age. It is hard to regain good health, but easier to recover if you practice healthy habits and correct bad behaviours sooner and younger. Trust me there are many things I wish I had done to treat my body better when I was younger.

I think 86# at your height is too little. Maybe you do not realize what you are doing, but somehow you are not taking enough calories in to sustain a normal weight. The best thing you can do is go back to your doctor and ask her what you should do. Ask her about a healthy diet plan you could follow in order to maintain a healthy weight and size. Good luck.

sounds like you may....my daughetr is 14 and has anerexia...she weighed little too, but it all depends on your body makeup..if your Dr says you may, then trust him/her and seek help. The sooner you get treatment the more likely you will recover from it better and not struggle with it as long...trust me! Are your parents involved in this as well? you need a very close and strong support team! Wish you the best!! :)

Are you making yourself vomit? Do you eat a whole bunch of food then make yourself puke? Are you taking mega doses of laxatives such as, mineral oil, ex-lax, Castor oil, milk of magnesia?
If you said YES, to any of these, then yes, you have an eating disorder.

if you don't know if you have an eating disorder then obviously you aren't purposely undereating so probly not. But your doctor is more reliable than anyone on here.
