It pretty much saddens me that so many people nowaday consider themselves christians but yet their is no spiritual growth at all. Im not judging anyone but only showing concern as a fellow Christian. When we become saved, we can't stop certain things over night but the longer we are saved, their should be some growth, I really seriously can't tell if anyone has a relationship with God because we act just like the world.

Mat 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Mat 7:24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man,

Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

While i am looking up to Jesus i am also glancing at my fellow breathren to make sure they aren't falling, we have to look out for each other, im not perfect and i don't claim to be but as christians we are our brothers keeper, are we not? If you see me falling are you going to say "Oh well, as long as i keep my eyes on Jesus, im fine", God forbid. If we have God in us, then we have love and will show compassion for our brotheren. God bless

I agree. I really think it is because people are not staying on their knees before the Lord, they are not fasting, not in the Word, and when you don't do these things you become weak. Then it is easier for them to give into the flesh.

It's all a sign that the Lord is getting ready to come back. The Apostle Paul prophesied that a "falling away"
would occur shortly before the return of Christ. ( 2 Thes.2:3-4).

I know what you are talking about, it really is sad. I know people at my church who do things no different than the world and are ok with it and don't think they are wrong at all.

We really need to start praying for them all that they will get back where they should be.

I definetely agree with you there.

This subject that you've brought up also reminds me of the passages in the book of James, where it mentions things about having faith, but also having a lack of works and deeds accompanying it - in other words, dead faith.

Others who profess to be of the Lord, however, can do all the works that would show him/her as a Christian - but then avoid doing God's will.

Both are just plain sad, to put it lightly. Hopefully anyone in those two situations will end up growing in the Lord anyway - no matter how slowly.

I've grown not too quickly myself, but now I'm so different from what I used to be that I just have to praise God! I slip and fall a lot more than I care to admit, though...it's a good thing that God's mercy pretty much renews itself each day!

Just like it was back then, we need God's infinite strength so that we won't compromise...so that we'll keep growing.

I know, I know, I did slightly deviate from the topic you brought up...I'm very much aware of it. I would've said more on this, but you said almost all of it. I just have to say - AGAIN - that I agree. I guess our part is to pray, right?

Yes, I agree. That is why the churches are filled with those on that are on the wide road! Some are too concerned about the way they appear to others in church instead of trying to mature spiritually and make progress in their walk with the Lord!

Some think church is a social event! My granny used to say going to church is important, but it does not make one a Christian!

The world SHOULD be able to tell a true Christian apart from one of themselves! We should all strive to develop from spiritual babes to mature Christians!

Thanks for the reminder! May the Lord bless you!

You are exactly correct. A lot of people say I "know" the Lord, but I ask does the Lord "know" you. Have you been born of the water and spirit? The sad thing is a lot of people who think they are christian but have no outward appearance or display of it, when they stand at the judgment throne and the words are said, Depart from me, I never knew you, it will be too late.

You are describing many here in the "bible belt", they like to call themselves Christian, but they don't like what Jesus said to do. Not much love of neighbor around here.

Buttered Toast,
Are you looking down again? When are your eyes on Christ? Jesus is supposed to be where we look in our lives for our lives. You are looking at who? Those that you see as imperfect? Are you not imperfect too?

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. (Romans 12)
