First of all I can't even believe your asking this question. You only have one mother, and a job can be found around any corner. I think you should go see her, especially if she's VERY ill. I also think that if your job cannot be considerate enough to let you take some days off due to your sick mom, then I would tell them to take that job and shove it. Family should always be your #1 priority.

Depends on what you can arrange with your HR department.
There are rules they have to enforce, but there are also some other categories of getting unpaid time off to deal with family emergencies and sicknesses, other than just your sick or vacation time. Communication is key.
If you can use vacation and take a lot of 3-day weekends, that will help.
It is also possible that, depending on where she is in Texas, you could move there and stay with her and get another job.
Try looking for job listings in that general area on Monster.com and other sites.
If you are in a profession that allows for placement (lawyer, nursing, IT, etc.) you can definitely use that resource, too.

Well, lets elaborate, sick as in has a cold or ill as in something worse? Ill, then by all means go see your mom. I know if I were ill I would want my children to see me. Jobs come & go, but a mothers love is forever! Good Luck!!!!!!!

Ask if you can get time off (explain the situation). Otherwise stay in contact via the Internet (Skype).

IT ALL DEPENDS WHATS HER PROBLEM. HOW SICK IS SHE? IF SHE IS ABOUT TO DIE THEN YOU SHOULD GO WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT.
