This is the reason there are so many people afraid of the afterlife because some hellfire/damnation church person or persons, hold hell up to you like salt for french fries!!!! They scare you into belief!! Belief of what?? Eternal hellfire if you don't accept Jesus as your Savior....This blows peoples minds that haven't been around these do-gooders for awhile.. They should speak of God's love and not His wrath until people can grasp His love ...Otherwise you focus on hellfire and drive yourself crazy....literally! I have left the church because of this practice.... I can't and won't preach hellfire to anyone before they know love......Period

Good observation. Time and time again the bible shows that when we perish we perish just like animals do,( Ecclesiastes 3:19-21) we cease to exsist. We do not have a invisible entity inside of us (Gen 2:7) Animals have a soul (Gen 1:20). Hell means - Grave, Pit....(Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) Who says we got to heaven when we die? Only a few have heavenly hope (1 Corinthians 15)....But it should be clear we dont burn in a hocus pocus torture place of fire and brimestone.Thats It

Hell or Hades or Sheol is the holding tank for the damned and the Devil is roaming about the earth and not down there.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Revelation 20:10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
People whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life go to be with Jesus when they die.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.
2 Corinthians 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Well, first you die. If you are saved you are taken to the Judgement Seat of Christ for something called the White Throne Judgement. If you've made it the JSoC, you are going to Heaven. At the JSoC, every good thing and bad thing you've done will be thrown into the fire and the Lord will judge you. He will give you crowns for your actions that were done unselfishly and for him. He will basically make you feel completely horrid and repentent for your other actions with the wrong motive or whatever... and when this is through, basically you go to heaven.................. and then the Tribulation comes and you go and watch the final battle, you recieve your new Glorified body and you go into eternity
OR
you die and go to Hell. You are in a pit of eternal flames. basically Satan tortures you. There will be one time when you get out. That will be after the tribulation, at the Final battle. You will be cast as part of Satan and the AntiChrist's army and basically God will defeat you and you will be cast into the Lake of Fire. and back to Hell you go.

It depends on the Christian group.
Most evangelicals believe in hellfire as in physical pain and eternal torture. Moderates tend to view hell as psychological suffering and separation from god's love -- not actual torture. A few others believe that the dead are actually asleep and feel nothing until the rapture, resurrection, etc where final judgment is given.
Of course hell doesn't make sense from any perspective, considering the organ that does the thinking and feeling has already died. No brain -- no pain.

The second one is more biblically correct.
In eternity you will either go to be with the Lord or you will be separated from him forever. You choose now and your final answer is binding. Separation from God means separation from all things good. Kindness, love, etc. If the absence of light is darkness and the absence of life is death, then what is the absence of God? What is the absence of comfort? Complete and unimaginable misery. Hell. And what's worse, every last damned soul is in hell by choice. You want to push God away bad enough, eventually he'll grant your wish.

Those souls in hell suffer forever, it is called the second death. It does not mean that they are simply destroyed and go to oblivion. Just want to clarify to you that the vast majority is right about hell. That is why we Christians do not want to go there. You and I are saved only through Jesus, there is no other way to get to heaven.

Consigned to outer darkness (away from the light of God) and tortured with the devil. This torture being to spend eternity knowing what you could have had in the way of joy and comfort and pleasure and not having any of it.

How do we know the Devils not someone cool like Joe Pesci? I would rather hang out with a character like Joe Pesci than this Jesus character anyday. And in whos opinion is it that says heaven would be better than hell? Maybe hell is full of drunken nights and unprotected sex! sounds like I know where I would rather be.

I never heard of anyone being destroyed and go to oblivion, thats new, You are correct as to Hell is a place of torment and meant for the fallen angels but since many will deny God, they have no other place to go so thats where they go and the demons torture everyone until everything is cast in to outer darkness.
