My dog is a year old too, and he also only eats at night. I think it's because my dog is spoiled from getting fed human food.

So take away his food at night, and feed him two meals during the day. His meals should be his daily portion divided by two. He may not eat them at first, but he'll get the point when he realizes food isn't left out all the time, so he better eat while he can. A healthy dog won't starve himself.

I don't recommend free feeding (leaving food out all the time) as it can lead to obesity, and makes it much much harder to tell if your dog is off feed, which can be a sign of illness.

Dogs do that, play with their food and eat at nighttime. I give my dog food right after our dinner and she eats later on. Sometimes they get tired of the same food too. But when they're hungry they will eat it anyway.

I don't see either thing as a problem. lots of dogs take the food out & put it on the floor. lots of dogs like to eat at nite.

Your dog is eating when it's hungry. That's a good thing.

That's just his habit. Don't knock a good thing. If he suddenly drops weight be concerned.
