I'm going camping and wanted to freeze some of the drinks ahead so that they will be nice and cold and act as an extra coolant for the other foods in the cooler.

Yes you can freeze liquids in glass containers to chill long term and use as ice to cool a cooler, but:
1) Glass is the perfect choice for holding frozen or hot liquids due to its inert properties.
2) Do pour out some of the liquid before freezing. Liquids expand 9% when under 39 degrees (4 degrees celcius), so eyeball one tenth of the container and pour it out (or drink it!) ;o)

I freeze water, tea, etc.(nothing carbonated) in plastic water bottles. I fill the bottle about 1/3 with the liquid and freeze it. It's great on a hot day because it slowly melts and I have a cold drink for a long time. Hope that helps!

Water expands when it freezes, so it can break glass when it freezes. You could transfer the drinks to plastic bottles, like ones from bottled water, and then freeze it.

No you can't freeze the drink. the drink will expand causing the bottle to brake

I suggest you drain out part of the liquid before freezing so you don't burst your containers. We freeze gallon jugs of water all the time but if you don't drain part first the jar can crack and break
