Oh boy, here's another CHILD thinking they're so grown up and mature. You're not. Believe me! I was the same way growing up, I thought I was so mature and all that crap when in actuality I had a lot of growing up to do. Please wait on getting a tattoo, within a few years you'll hate that little blue moon and want to get it covered up. Doesn't matter anyway you have to be 16 w/a parents consent to get a tattoo. On top of that I personally don't know any tattoo artists who would willingly tattoo a child...as well they shouldn't!
p.s. I know you think getting a tat now is cool and your friends will all be jealous, but wait a few years until you come up w/a REALLY great idea for a tat and then make 'em really jealous! The moon idea is not a good one!

Pretty sure the state law if it's allowed is 16+ for parent permission and at that the artist/shop owner has final say in whether they will even do it. I suggest waiting a few years and giving a design more maturing time. You'll be happier with it and have some life experience to put into it. The concept is great, don't give up just give it time! Check the state laws. It might be 18+ no matter what, most of the country is now.

okay, i agree you should wait but its not like im going to convince you to wait until you are older.....
so basically most states you can not get anything done unless you are 16 with parent consent, or 18 by yourself. i would not advice calling around to see if they would tattoo you anyway, because any tattoo artist that would be willing to tattoo a 13 year old (even with parent consent) might not be a good artist.
even though you might be done growing physically, you are not mentally. i can promise you the things you love and are into now, you wont be in 5 years nevermind 50 years.
ive always wanted a tattoo, as young as maybe 7 years old. my idea of a tattoo changed, and i got my first tattoo at 19. i love it, but im glad i waited no matter how much i wanted one when i was younger!

It doesn't depend on the state. It depends on the county. I live in Michigan. And where I live you can get a tattoo at 16 (with parental consent).
I don't think there's any place you can get a tattoo when you're 13...I'm not positive on that but yeah, that's pretty young..

sry to sound mean, but I have NEVER in my life met or heard of a person that stopped growing at the age of 13....usually around 18-20 is the time when you stop.
secondly, I personally would wait until you're older. I mean, look at the majority of answers to this question....they're all telling you that you must be at LEAST 18 to get it done urself, and I really think it'd be bad parenting on ur parent's part if they let you get a tattoo...I'm thinking of getting my first tattoo myself, but I'm 18....it's worth it to wait....you might find something more meaningful to tattoo onto ur body that would mean something more special than a crescent moon. I know you wanna get a tattoo now because they look awesome and it looks easy to get, but trust me...if you wait it out, you'll thank every single one of us that told you to wait....besides, the tattoo artist might not WANT to give a 13 yr old a tattoo, because of ur age....no offense, but that's just how it is....
just keep in mind that a tattoo is forever, and the only way to get rid of it is with a painful, expensive laser.....so whatever you choose, MAKE SURE IT'S WORTH IT!!!!
Hope you make the right decision!

Actually i was told the other day that pretty much everywhere in the US except for 1 or 2 states you have to be 18. I had a friend that was 16 and got a tattoo in mexico and wants to retouch it and he went to a tattoo shop where i got mine done, im 18, and they said that they cant do it regardless if he had a mom or dad there because it is considered child abuse until they are 18.

you can get a tattoo under 18 with your parents present in michigan, but most artists still won't do it. they'll just say they are too busy. no one likes the hassle of dealing with kids, especially with something that permanent and potentially painful. probably only the dirtier, seedier parlors will do it. but never never ever just walk into a shop, without a referal from someone who's had work done there. it's forever, know the type of art the guy or girl does and know that he or she is good ahead of time. nothing worse than having a crap tattoo.
