Here's a GREAT "watchmaker" story, in response to the ever so trite watchmaker argument. It demonstrates some nice principles of evolution:
http://www.jhuger.com/watchmaker
This site also descontructs the classic argument and shows why it fails:
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/mathew/arguments.html#design
"The Watchmaker analogy suffers from three particular flaws, over and above those common to all Arguments By Design. Firstly, a watchmaker creates watches from pre-existing materials, whereas God is claimed to have created the universe from nothing. These two sorts of creation are clearly fundamentally different, and the analogy is therefore rather weak.
Secondly, a watchmaker makes watches, but there are many other things in the world. If we walked further along the beach and found a nuclear reactor, we wouldn't assume it was created by the watchmaker. The argument would therefore suggest a multitude of creators, each responsible for a different part of creation (or a different universe, if you allow the possibility that there might be more than one).
Finally, in the first part of the watchmaker argument we conclude that the watch is not part of nature because it is ordered, and therefore stands out from the randomness of nature. Yet in the second part of the argument, we start from the position that the universe is obviously not random, but shows elements of order. The Watchmaker argument is thus internally inconsistent.
Apart from logical inconsistencies in the watchmaker argument, it's worth pointing out that biological systems and mechanical systems behave very differently. What's unlikely for a pile of gears is not necessarily unlikely for a mixture of biological molecules."

It is possible that the Universe or the World was created as part of a 7th grade science fair project by some kid from a race of beings that have had a scientific culture for millions of years.
If your believe in a creator then the door is open to any crazy idea.
Good question !!!

If I found a watch on the beach my first reaction would probably be:
"Wow, self-replicating molecules of plastic, metal and glass must have formed, by yet unknown process, into watch parts and then they decided to assemble themselves, by yet unknown processes, into a complete watch. What a coincidence that they all fit on the first try. But in an infinite universe improbable things happen all the time. And look, the watch even knew to set itself, by yet unknown processes, to the correct time."

What is your point? A man made the stupid thing but who made the man? Who put the brain in his head that even now, no man can figure out how it works? Obivously, you are missing a few connections in your brain that allows you to reason and figure stuff out. Are you smarter than an ape? It doesn't appear so.

If I found a watch on the beach I would hand it in at the police station. I would not start to ask absurd questions.

I would of course be with my children who would probally smash the watch on a rock. Who made it? They don't care....Who destroyed it...my kids. Just like all civilizations are brought down by someone's children.
Rocks don't smash watches, kids smash watches.

You are probably right about the watch...If your next question concerns man I can only say revelation of God comes from God.

If the watch were a biological circuit that regulated heart beats, I would think that a sperm and egg made it.

okie-dokie...what is the name on the watch? Timex, Casio, Elgin? Would that be it's "creator"? One name, one creator.
