I was given samples for Imitrex but I'm not sure if I should try it. Maybe I have a high pain tolerance, maybe it's not a migraine. I don't know when a migraine is starting or if it even is a migraine.
I have one right now and I don't know what to do. I've had if for hours and hours. I need help.
I really really need help.
Any advice on Imitrex and migraines/headaches is much appreciated.

Imitrex is one of the best medications to abort migraines available on the market today. The selection of Imitrex is based normally on your symptoms and pattern. It works better for most patients to take it at the onset of the headache. Some people experience some side effects, mostly the triptan effect, which is a feeling of throat tightness and a flushing of heat through your body. The effect is usually short lived and disipates quickly.

I would suggest trying the sample.

I use Imitrex and it's a blessing for me it does work. I told my sister about it because she also gets headaches and now she is on it. As far as topomax the doctor put me on it once a day to try to help prevent my headaches but I was so run down from it I couldn't do anything. I got off it and would suggest staying away from it. Another alternative is Carisiprodol. Its a muscle relaxer and it has also help with my headaches I only take it when I feel one coming on. Since using the Carisiprodol I've been able to cut way down on the Imitrex. But Imitrex is very effective. Sorry about your pain and I hate headaches the worst, it seems I can injure myself anywhere else and it's really no problem. I can tolerate it but when it comes to my head I can't concentrate. It gets so bad sometimes that I can't function at all. Try it, I think you'll be happy with the results.

I used to take imitrex because it did work when taken properly. When I felt a migraine coming on (usually late afternoon), I would be okay for the rest of the day if I took it (I had the pill form). The only problem was that my head felt burning pain for an hour after I took it before I would feel better again, so I stopped taking it and just deal with the migraines and go to bed when I get them.

Best of luck.

It works, but it can make you drowsy at times. Also what works for someone else might not work for you, trial & error.
