First we examine all the head and neck region of such patients , then we perform a general lymphatic search . If we find any suspected disease we will start the suitable treatment , but if not ; we will strat an empirical course of oral antibiotics for 2 weeks and send some blood laboratory samples and then re-examine the patient , if there was still a lamp in the neck (>1.5cm) we will proceed with a fine needle biopsy . . .
But generally don't worry it's usually an inflammatory swelling , cancer is not a common illness . You can follow up your illness with an ENT specialist .

Have it checked out. If you have not had an infection of some sort recently, it could be something serious. I just had a suspicious lymph node removed from the same spot. It was about the size of a jelly bean. Thank God it was benign. In general, anything cancerous would not reduce in size on its own, nor would it respond to antibiotics.
If you have reason to suspect Lymphoma, here is hte best site for info:

It could be cancer.

It is more likely to be a swolen lymph gland.

These often get swollen when we are fighting an infection ...... have you had a cold, earache, sore throat?

You say it is getting smaller, cancer tumors rarely shrink without treatment.

If you are worried or if it doesn't go away within a few days, go toyour Dr and get it checked.

It would NOT hurt one bit to be checked last year my brother came to visit and it was behind his ear little lump
he had cancer

this year another brother had a lump behind his right ear
and he too is being treated with chemo, it is now shrinking up

my father had the same lump same place and no cancer

be sure to have it checked

probably a cyst since it has gotten smaller...keep a watch on it ....if it doesn't go away maybe the dr will order a ultrasound...but cancers usually do not get smaller.......and they are fixed......they don't move around.
