I went through something very similar. Normally the courts won't allow the non-custodial parent can't sign away their parental rights unless there is someone else in the picture ( like a step parent) that is wanting to adopt the child. Also one other thing. If he does sign away his rights and no one adopts the child he is still liable to pay child support.

I know this must have been a shock to him, but really, if the child is his he has a duty to be the father. Wanting to sign away parental rights is not very manly or responsible. If he doesn't see the error of his ways in trying to reject his child, don't have any children with him. He might do the same to yours if he gets tired of being a parent.

yes he can sign over his rights, he can take her to court but she might fight him and win. he can continue to ignore his responsiblities and she might give in and grant him the right to give up his rights. I think she might be hagning on because she might still have feelings for this guy or she wants money from him. Child support. I dont understand why you would want to be with this loser. he messed up and now he should support this child and help raise him. you should persuede him to accept this child and help raise him. i cant believe you as a female will not accept this child as your own too.
some people are wierd.

He has to support his son, even is he doesn't want to be in his life. That's sad. He should get to know his son.

talk to your husband about taking responsibility for his actions...he may have not known about his son but now that he does, he should be able to provide for him somehow or another.
