Okay, well, I have an indoor cat, and he's about 11 years old. He was in good shape (or so we thought), and now, we're not so sure. He's gotten very thin, and seems to just lay around anywhere, and not do much of anything. He just sits, and sometimes hops into the shower, but gets afraid if he gets wet. He doesn't want to eat (or so it seems, we're not sure if he has been or not). We are going to take him to the vet, but I was just wondering if anyone was in this situation, and if so: what was the outcome? Please help, I'm not ready to lose him yet.

The vet will run a blood panel to check for diabetes or hyperthyroidism either of which can cause a cat to lose a lot of weight. Hyperthyroidism is not usually associated with lethargy and cats with that condition usually eat voraciously.

So it's good you will have the vet look into his problem. Hopefully he can be treated successfully and you will have many more good years with him.

I wish you all the luck. I don't know what could be going on with you cat. 11 years is a ripe old age for a cat especially an indoor cat. Again I wish you all the luck. get you cat to the vet and when you do keep in mind whats best for the cat and not what best for you emotions. We will all be here with words of support if you need us.

Your vet should do a complete physical. It could be a lot of different things, and 11 isn't that old.

Have the vet rule out diabetes and thryoid problems as these are very dangerous and can't wait long if they're present. You'll feel better.

The teeth should be checked too, as broken ones may be causing pain.
