You misunderstand idolatry, which means worshiping some created thing in place of the Creator. Taking a photograph, or recording a videotape, or watching a movie is not idolatry.

Something more akin to idolatry is the way people obsess over celebrities. Actors, professional athletes, and others touted by the media are ordinary mortals, no wiser, smarter, or more virtuous than anyone else.

Of course I'm against idolatry, as any Christian should be. All of the things you mentioned are fine as long as they don't take the #1 place in your life. You have to constantly ask yourself if you would be willing to give those things up for God, if you were in a situation where you had to.

I'm not into any kind of idolatry. I don't own a TV, and I'd never even consider idolizing any kind of religious figure.

This sounds like censorship to me. But I'm not surprised to find it here. Many religions keep their followers in line by censoring what they read, watch and listen to. *My theory is this: if your religion is true then it won't matter what you read, watch, or listen to because nothing will turn you from that truth.* So relax, enjoy life, and maybe lighten up a bit! Blessings!
