My pug is over a yr old - and to this day she is going in her crate, in her bed in the house, on the carpet, right outside the front door (instead of walking 4 steps to the grass) this is a major problem i know and i have a dog behaviourlist coming to my house next week - any suggestions to help me during the meantime.

She is outside all the time, i'm more of an outdoor person then an indoor, so i take her out all the time - please understand this is not something that has been going on for 1yr this is something that has happened in the last 3 mths. I clean with everything, all products recommended by the petshop to remove odour, still she goes or she will find somewhere she has never gone before, she does not even want to try and hold it in or does she give any indication she wants to go. We can be outside for like 2hrs playing and she could go outside, then i will bring her in and she will go in her bed.

What are you cleaning up the messes with? You need to clean up with an enzymatic cleaner such as Nature's Miracle, if you don't traces will be left behind that your dog can smell.

Have you had her checked out for possible medical issues that could be causing her to have housetraining trouble?

How big is her crate? To big and she'll go in one end and sleep in the other.

How often do you take her out?

What is her daily routine?

Your on the right track. Make sure her crate isn't too big. Only big enough for her to lay down, stand up, and turn around in. If it's too big block off part of it with a plastic or wood box, or anything she can't destroy. This is from a former post so it says he, sorry: Do NOT use pee pads. This teaches your dog that it is ok to go in the house and confuses him. Always keep him in the same room as you so you can keep an eye on him. If he wanders too much get a leash and tie him near you so you can watch. As soon as he starts to go tell him no no no no and run him outside. When he goes outside praise him. As he becomes more trustable you can let him have 2 rooms at a time and eventually you won't need to watch him at all. If you can't watch him or are gone put him in a crate. Make sure the crate is only bid enough for him to lie down, turn around and stand up in. Also don't put any blankets or stuff like that in there until he learns. Otherwise the pee gets soaks up and he doesn’t care that he messed his crate. Most dogs will not go where they sleep. This will also set your dog up for success. Since he can't go in the house because he is in a crate or being watched and corrected then he won't have a chance to get away with and think, well, if mommy's not home I can pee on the carpet! and it will take much longer to re-train the more often he goes. Do not leave his water or food out. After he eats or drinks find out how long it will take for him to have to go. Then get him outside when he'll need to go and reward him for going potty outside. Take him out before bed and before going in his crate, and don't give him food or water 2 hours before bed or being in a crate for a few hours. Good luck!

If you have had your pug for as old as it is, why wasn't this issue taken care of a while ago. How often are you putting her out. I have a 12 week old boxador and I take her out every hour or so, since getting her and she has had maybe 5 accidents in the 5 weeks I've had her. If you are taking her out regularly maybe it is some kind of bladder problem. Checking with her vet won't hurt.

I have a pug and they can be stubborn!

1. Teach her that outside is for "business" ONLY - Use a leash if needed - Once business in done back inside
2. Consistant timing will help - Start out in short intervals and extend the time gradually - She WILL learn
3. Once she learns the basics she can come and go outside as needed - just keep the consistant times to potty

has she been checked by a vet? when my dog was a pup, he used to pee where he stood or sat. if she cant control it, she might have kidney infection like my dog did. peeing in their beds is not normal behaviour. does it seem like she cant control it? or just that she seems to want to do it like this?
