I went and it was the worst experience of my life! I tell the tale in my qn 'horrible prom/formal experiences' if you want to read it. Just type it in search

My dad would not allow me to go to the prom...apparently he had heard stories. I was the kind of person then who would have BEEN one of those stories because I was curious about what my parents were trying to keep me from. Now that I have kids that age and older, I understand what they were trying to do, I'm just not sure that is the way to go about it. Trying to shelter a person from trouble who is trying to get into it is not a very effective method. Explaining to them why their decisions now can affect their future in an adverse way and letting them make mistakes is a much more effective way of parenting. I dont know if you are a kid or a parent asking this question, but my answer would still be the same. I would have loved to have gone to the prom, it probably would have made my future completely different, not better or worse, just different.

Prom is nothing but a waste of money! Trust me, there's no reason to regret anything! After you graduate you never see the same poeple again anyway! Trust me, you're not missing out on anything special.

no i never went to my senior prom. i didnt go mainly because i didnt have a date. at the time i thought it was uncool to go to a dance solo, but now that i have been out of HS for a couple of years, i really wish i had 'prom memories' to share. darn it! oh well!

the school I was at didn't have that

the kids were too busy with drugs and sex already

I'm 43, if she missed it too

we could maybe do that

dress up ,get a limo, go to some woods, feel each other up nervously for a few hours or whatever

You def. should go to your prom- good experience or bad...its a once and a lifetime thing...its not what you think it will be...it was slightly disappointing for me but it varies from school to school
I never felt like I didnt wanna be there.
GO TO YOURS

Well I did go to my prom and wish I wouldn't have, my date was a jerk.

I didn't go because I didn't have a date. Back then, going alone wasn't allowed. I heard 10 couples showed up and they lost money on unsold tickets. That's the legacy we gave you. Go and enjoy.

I didn't and don't regret it. But, proms are different now, so if you have a chance, you may want to just do it.

My mom didn't go to hers and she still regrets it. She's 51 years old.

I personally went to two. The one at my school, then the one at my boyfriend's school. We had a blast!
