It's not too bad. My Bengals like it because it looks like human food. personally, buy some chicken and boil it for them, it's better and you can sneak in kitty vitamins plus it's cheaper also. My vet says that if it's for treats or just once a day, give friskies. If it's just 1 cat, I'm sure Sheba would be fine, but for 10 cents more, I can feed 3 cats 1 can of Eagle Pak and they really love it. I feed raw sometimes too and they like it. Keep out kibble for snacking though.

I've just recently investigated this food.
This IS pretty decent food. However, it's not designed to be fed regularly - intermittent feeding only. They mention that in very fine print on their website.
That's because it contains nothing but meat, tapioca and guar gum (ingredients of the chicken breast meal). It doesn't provide many of the nutrients that cats require, particularly taurine.
So it would be a fine ADDITION to your cat's diet, but it could not become its sole food.
But I've heard that it's also pricy. If you want to give your cat the occasional meaty treat, you're better off giving it some raw or boiled chicken meat.
EDIT: The second link is to another question about Sheba where I initially did the research.

It's not a food I'd give to mine, mostly because it's available in a grocery store (and they're not known for having any very good.foods). However, it IS on the list over at the site below, so you can compare it to the better foods--I found it right near the bottom on the page.
Read the ingredient list on the side. It needs to have at least 12% protein as a canned food, to be good for cats. And have two meat sources in the first 4 ingredients, but NOT a by-product. And no corn should be in the first four ingredients. Cats can't digest corn, it's only used as a filler.

I had never tried it until I got a sample in the mail. It was sent with an ad and a coupon, stating they were never involved in the pet food recall.
My cats love it! I usually feed Fancy Feast canned. They definitely prefer Sheba. It does look like real chicken. I haven't tasted it, but when I spoon it out it doesn't have that spongy consistency that other canned foods have.

I give my two kitties Sheba Ocean Seafood Cocktail as a treat and they gobble it up. It's not a complete food but it's a great treat. They haven't had the normal cat food, but as a previous comment said, make sure you know what's in it - avoid wheat, corn, and soy products in the food. Also avoid food coloring and added flavors (like "chicken flavor"-that's not chicken!)
I like this treat because it's only 4 ingredients and three of them are from the sea.

It all depends upon the reason you are buying it for...
1) My lovely old lady, Talia, at the age of 17 years loved it mashed up.
2) Price wise - expensive.
3) Wouldn't give it as an every day meal.
4) Excellent for treats; great for cats who are not eating/suffered from an illness; or an old lady like Talia - who deserved to be given anything she would eat! ;-)
Cats need to be given a variety of foods that contain all the compenent food constituents required.
They are not much different from humans - they get bored if given the same brand and flavour of cat food all the time.
Do you blame them? Wouldn't you get bored?
Periodically giving them fresh food without preservatives and additives is a good idea... Continual feeding of tinned meat is not healthy as the additives will just ruin their major organs such as kidneys and liver.

Hi There, Sheba is owned by the same company (mars) that owns Whiskas. It is a good food, but not the best. Hills Science plan is probably the best. But costs about costs a few more quid. However if you want what's best for your cat i would recommend feeding dry food (i.e.Hills or one of the leading premium brands) in with the wet food to give your cat the full benefits of the best diet.
If you visit www.pet-supermarket.co.uk, they are the leading pet retailer online with the best service. In addition if you use the coupon code 'bonus5' you will receive a 5% discount if you enter this code at the checkout. I use them all the time and there mint.

Nope it's crap, find something without animal by-products or gluten. Go for brands like Wellness and Pinnacle, they are the best, I volunteer with a few cat rescues, have lived with cats that lived until 20 and my best friend works at a pet supplies store who also works in animal rescue.

anything that you find at at a grocery store is crap. excuse my french/.... heres some ingredients you should wholeheartidly avoid to give your cats the diet they need..
corn, soy, wheat, byproducts, dies, bha, bht, ehtoxyquin, beef, and dairy.
i recomend a meat meal over a fresh meal * but only when the meat meal is from a organic/natural company.. try out eagle pack holistic select...they make their food in their own factories, and have been around for 40 years!! i recomend that for dry food ( duck and oatmeal formula) and then i recomend merrick canned cat food for their can a day!!

You mean because it has a tricky name? You need to read the label on the can - if it says by-product meat, artifical flavorings, it is not a good quality food.
If you want to use 3 oz cans Wellness and Natural Balance are quality brands with wholesome meat.
