all the roses & what not r corny. get her something that fits her interests. i.e. get a writer a fancy pen

make it something small and cute - NO jewlery NO cards or poems or anything you might get someone after dating them for a while and NO flowers. Just something small, casual that you know she will appreciate. It would help you get the foot in the door AND if you get her something like a cd that you both like or something she has to take care of you will have opened the door for further conversation.

It depends on how close you are. If you are kinda close then you can get her a gift that is useful but not too flashy. If you aren't too close right now talk to her more and get closer, but make sure that you watch the line between friend and boyfriend because if your not careful you may become a regular friend then things get awkward.
