i have noticed that every firefighter i know have or own a gun. i go to the gun shop to buy a handgun, i see some guys wearing a local firefighter t shirt looking at guns. i go to the shooting range, i see some firefighters wearing a local firefighter t shirt and shooting their guns. i used to work as a cashier at a local store, when people come in to pay for something and they pay by credit card, i am required to see their i.d., when guys come in to pay by credit card, they show me their i.d., instead of showing me their driver license, they show me their firefighter license and right next to that i.d. in their wallet is a concealed handgun license. why? why do all firefighters carry guns and always look pissed off for? their not cops, its not like they have the right to use their gun and shoot people. - no disrespect to firefighters

I never noticed that, however I have seen cops that hose people over. Maybe subconciously they really want to be fire fighters.

My dad has a gun. He's a psychiatrist. He doesn't think he is a cop... or a firefighter for that matter.
I think that everyone has a right to have/ own a gun... I mean, with a permit and such.
Why are you so worried about firefighters with guns? Are you paranoid?

It is due to the rapid decline in respect for civil authority and it's representatives and the increasing danger faced by any person doing a job in uniform.
I know of two EMTs that have changed careers because they had one too many guns pulled on them for trying to help someone.
I worked with firefighters that had to fight a meth freak for ten minutes and ended up hurting him because he thought they wanted to kill him instead of treat him for a seld inflicted stab wound. He eventually had to be subdued with a taser.
One of them was stabbed with an IV needle in the cheek by a wanna-be banger that didn't want them to help a person that he had just beaten with a table leg.
Another reason may be that a lot of cops will trade department patches for FD shirts. Think about it. It is safer to wear a FD shirt and it looks cool too. I have plenty at home. PD or SO identifying materials will make you or a family member a target.

Try being Firefighter in Philadelphia or Detroit. Then You might like to have something to pack. From driving back from home to the fire house, to a paramedic dealling with a domestic dispute stabbing. A little firepower makes one feel a lot better....

You are wrong they do and so do you have the right to shoot someone if your life or someone else's life is in danger. A lot of people aren't cops and have guns.

Ok. None of your business. How's that one? If everyone had a gun the crime rates would drop because there would be more dead felons and the rest of the criminals would start to fear the good citizens again...and that's how it should be. We should not be afraid of them they should be afraid of us! Notice I did say 'good' citizens...as in mentally healthy and not a felon.

Because SOME actually are. They work in both fields. That way they don't get so burnt out & they can help more people if they need to in an emergency situation.

many firmen are law enforcement investigators. arson investigators carry guns and can arrest you just like any other officer
