I think it really depends on the college. Some are really big on community service, especially with some intended majors, and other colleges don't even seem to notice if you have them or not. You should look at the website for the college and see how big of a focus they make on community service. If the college of your choice makes a big deal out of the number of hours their students have committed to community service, I'd say they pay attention.

I would suppose all things are considered on a college application. Community service, whether it was ordered by a court or just performed on a volunteer basis, would be considered along with other aspects on admission considerations.

They are considered, but the impact of 100 community service hours vs. 500 community service ours is miniscule. More important is the nature of the community service, and the extent to which you are involved (not how long you do it, what you do).

Absolutely. Community service connected to the major you're interested in pursuing is highly desirable. Moreover, once you have your degree in hand and are seaching for a job with little or no experience, community service makes a huge statement as to who you are. Hiring Personnel are highly impressed with community service. I know I am.

It really depends on the college/university. Some care, some don't, and anything in between. The best bet is to contact a few prospective colleges and inquire.

no. a lot of them don't even bother looking at them unless they have someone who has dne things identically to the activites you have done. then they might look at the amount of hours. other than that no.
