It's very simple--divide each ingredient in half--1 teaspoon becomes 1/2 teaspoon, 3 cups becomes 1 1/2 cups.

Just revisited this question and am surprised at some of the unkind remarks. What might seem simple to some of us may not be to others. If someone isn't used to cooking big batches, it's understandable that they might worry about the outcome of a recipe if they reduce it. Also, if they don't have proper storage, making the whole batch wouldn't be practical.
Admittedly, some things would be hard to reduce by half, but in the case of an egg, it's still simple to do. You just beat it first and then pour half of it in to the mix. Having said that, cutting things by half isn't as much of a problem as doubling a recipe--as some recipes don't lend themselves well to that.

1/4 cup milk
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
That's half of the recipe that you asked about, and it won't hurt a thing to cut it in half. Most recipes can be cut in half, doubled or even tripled without a drastic change. There are some recipes that call for eggs...that's where you have to watch your cutting. Doubling and such is okay, but cutting in half is difficult to do when a recipe calls for 3 eggs. Hope this helps! Happy baking! Oh...and FYI...you don't have to worry about being exact with the Tablespoons...take a tablespoon and fill it halfway...believe it or not, it's easy to do...I do it all the time, and I am a fantastic cook/baker.

I think you really wanted to know if there was something to do besides the basic math. Your recipe doesn't call for an egg. If it did, it can be a real hassle to use 1/2 an egg. In those cases, I just use less of another liquid in the recipe. The other thing that might have thrown you off is the 1/2 Tablespoon, since that size spoon doesn't come in measuring sets. The thing to remember there is that there's 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon. So for your recipe you needed half of 9 tsp. so 4 1/2 tsp. or 1 Tbs. plus 1 1/2 tsp.
Hopefully, you've been able to enjoy your cookies already. Sorry most of the others gave you a hard time.

1 Tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
1 T. + 1 1/2 teas. would be half of 3 T.
The rest of the ingreds. are pretty simple and they were correct in the other answers. Just half or do the same thing to each ingredients in a recipe.
I hope this helps.

Ignore them. If your not comfortable with just cutting the recipe itself in half. Make it all. When done store 1/2 the cookie dough in seran wrap and freeze. You will be ready for the next time you want to make some.

Sigh . . .
1/2 divided by 2 = 1/4
2 divided by 2 = 1
3 divided by 2 = 1.5
Sweetie, if you're just lazy, I can almost sympathize. Otherwise you need to brush up on your elementary school math.
