I was in the hospital for a few weeks this summer and I had a pic line in my arm (similar to an IV, but designed for longer use). Anyway, they had to put it in twice because the first time it hit the vein and clotted. This caused a sort of blood blister to develop around the area over the next few days. Now that I've been out of the hospital for a little over a month, the blood seems to have been absorbed back into the blood stream, but there's a remaining darker tint to the skin in exactly the area where the blood blister had been - like the skin's been ever so slightly stained. Is that possible?? Will the spot go away? Or am I likely stuck with this strange spot on my arm forever?

The discolouration is from the injury, and will eventually fade in time. It's not a blood stain.

In a few months you will have a tough time trying to pinpoint the location in your arm where the stain is today. It will dissapear as if it was never there.

My guess is that this will fade with time. If it's still there in a year, or if it gets any bigger or changes shape, show it to your doctor just to be on the safe side.

I won't stain skin-------this is just from the IV and will go a way, maybe some bruising too.
