i'm 13 year old girl and whenever i'm hungry i get terrible aches pains and cramps in my muscles all over my body. i eat big breakfasts with lots of fiber (like oatmeal and cereals with 8 grams of fiber) and a cup of soy milk. and a fuit. i go to school and lunch period is at 12:00. well by 10:00 i start getting REAlly hungry and awful cramps. and when i do eat i get more stomach aches.
i was thinking that if i fast for one day every two weeks.. my body could endure be hungry easier.
any tips so i can fast safely?
or any other tips so i'm not starving at school?

For the time being, why not take a granola bar or something like that, and eat it in class/between classes. But I think you ought to go see a doctor. Cramps and body aches caused by hunger, when you ARE eating a healthy breakfast, just doesn't seem right/normal. And don't fast. That never works. Just go see a doctor.

That might be a question to ask a doctor. It could be a number of things, ranging from a eating disorder, to a high metabolism. I suffer the same thing, as well, although mine isn't an eating disorder. Far from it, actually. I just have a high metabolism, and it shows. On average, I'll eat five to seven meals (Not snacks) a day. The worst part about this? I don't gain an ounce when I eat. I blame it on the tape worm (He doesn't exist, but its funny to watch people's reactions to the statement). I'll eat anywhere from one to three pounds of food, per sitting, and barely gain any weight, at all. I have multiple check-ups, each year, and I'm healthy as can be. The truth is, people are different. There's no "set food amount" a person should eat. How big are you? If you're tall, or just naturally hefty, you'll eat more to maintain your body type. If this is a concern, as I stated, just talk with your doctor about it. I'm sure they'll offer you an answer, if anything. If you just have a healthy appetite, I suggest buying non-name brand food items.... or getting a second job. :P

No, do not fast. That is not a healthy way. Instead of eating a large breakfeast eat something smaller like a bowl of oatmeal and a banana. Then, pack a healthy snack like a gronola bar or some sliced fruit with you to school. If you can, eat it during class or between classes. This will let you have something in your stomach so you won't get hunger pains. It will also train your stomach to hold on til lunch.
Pick me best answer??

wow, first and foremost.. fasting is not the answer. that will only further complicate things. and like someone else suggested, maybe you should take a snack to school, at least until you find out whats going on with your body.
its possible that you have a food allergy. but one thing i do know is, you need to be evaluated by a doctor. whatever you are experiencing its not normal. it could be an allergy -- to gluten, wheat, lactose, fiber, etc.. its hard to say. but the only thing i am clear on is: extreme discomfort after you eat is not normal...
just look into it ASAP before it gets worse

At your age, fasting is a really, really, REALLY bad idea. Growing bodies need food; your body is reminding you of this.
Try carrying snack or "breakfast bars" and munching on those between meals. Eating smaller meals more frequently stimulates metabolism and helps to prevent hunger cramps.

It's possible you are getting too much fiber and/or your body hasn't adjusted to your intake. Try eating more protein and less carbs with breakfast and you won't get hungry as soon - any kind of meat or dairy or eggs will help. Carbs spike and drop blood sugar and leave you hungry. Protein keeps you full much longer because it takes longer to digest.

You need to eat more food. You are starving your body. I would think you could do quite nicely with about 1200-1300 calories a day. Eat often if you want. Some people call it the amazing graze.

I'm same age. You should have lots of meat and carbs. It takes a long time to digest, and drink a lot of water. You should not fast.
