He was holding her like a baby, like we always do, and she hissed at him, bit him, and scratched him for no reason. Then later in the day I was holding her and she did the same to me. She never has done this in the several weeks we have owned her. She is always sweet and loved to be held like a baby. I have never heard of this happening. Could something be wrong with her? She is UTD on vaccinations, she has been wormed, eats well, does well in the litter box.....I just don't understand. There was no noise in the house, so I don't thing she got spooked. I am clueless on this one.

I left out that it was my son that held her first, he is 11 years old and great with animals. Later in the day I held her and she did the same with me.

She could be overstimulated.

Or she could have hairballs or have some injury you don't know about.

My cat used to love being picked up like a baby, but when she had hairballs she would hiss and spit when I did that. Or of course, if your cat has a bruise or cut somewhere that hurts when you pick her up like that, she would naturally not like it.

Something might be hurting, that would cause a reaction like that. She might have hurt a joint jumping down from something, or hurt her back against something. If there's a bruise or such, and she had weight put against it, I could see this kind of reaction being completely legitimate.

Give her the benefit of the doubt, she's just a baby and a tad over 3 months old so she's only reacting in response to things. It's not to be mean or anything.

Your kitty is almost the age of my newest additions. One thing that could be occurring is over stimulation. Watch her ears, and if they start to go back, that is a warning sign, and stop whatever you are doing. Some cats suddenly no longer like to be held on their back, which is what I interpret "holding like a baby" to be.

If your kitty hisses at you when you are not stimulating her, then she needs to be trained to stop doing that. Usually a firm NO and pointing a finger at the cat. But don't overdo it, as you are trying to train her, not punish her as she doesn't know better.

Also, kitty claws are like needles. Getting a claw clipper and snipping off the sharp tips will save lots of skin punctures.
