I lost my retainers during Hurricane Katrina, & now my teeth are shifting back. I'm 24. Would braces again help or just another retainer?

This really all depends on how much your teeth have moved. If you haven't worn the retainers since Katrina, then you may need another short phase of braces to get your teeth back in their proper alignment. If only minor adjustments are necessary you could consider Invisalign retainers. These are clear retainers that can actually move your teeth just like braces. You can also ask your orthodontist about cementing a small wire on the back of your teeth that will act as a permament retainer. You won't have to worry about taking this in and out as you do a traditional plastic retainer.

the major shifting was done with the braces. but if you havent worn any since katrina, youll need strong retainers.

i had braces and then had invisalign for a top retainer and a metal on the bottom. i like the invisalign much better and you wouldnt think plastic could do so well.

i think youll only need a new set of retainers and youre good to go. but check with your ortho anyways

Probably just another retainer. The doc may put in a "fixed retainer." Go in as soon as you can though. My SIL is 40 and still has a fixed retainer. Everytime she goes without one her teeth start to shift again.

THEY HAVE A RETAINER TO HELP PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER AGAIN IF THEY ARE SHIFTING. THEY COST A BIT MORE THAN THE RETAINER THEY GIVE YOU AFTER BRACES, TRUST ME, I BEEN THRU THE SAME THING.

I think you can get a free consultation with an Orthodontist. Ask for some recommendations. An honest Orthodontist will tell you if you need them or not. A shady one might say you need them just to make more money off you.
