Hi. I found the Schnauzer like 3 months ago...took care of her..vaccinated..walk her every night from 7:30 to 8 - 8:30.
Everything is good but i have a huuuge problem !
Everytime i go through my neighborhood to walk her, whenever she hears other dogs barking she starts barking like CRAZY ! and its so loud and annoying and she won't stop. Not to tell you when i encounter other people walking their dogs too..she just runs like crazy and jumps and barks like she's about to eat the other dog even though the other dog is 4 times larger than her. And it's just annoying and embarrassing ..if you know what i mean..because my dog does all the barking and jumping...the other dog just looks at her. Whenever she starts barking i try to pull harder on the leash towards me and yell " no " but that doesnt work at all. I'm sure slapping her wouldn't do much either..

So please help me make my dog walks calm and relaxing like they should be.
thank you much!

It makes things difficult to find a dog you do not know the past/history. Sounds like the dog did not have very much socialization as a puppy.

Puppy/Training classes would not hurt.
A good trainer can help you assess the situation properly

dog aggression is pretty common in terriers in general.

yelling at terriers or telling them NOT to do a thing rarely works. You actually have to teach them what to do instead of what they're doing. With dog aggression that isn't easy, and honestly the best way to deal with it would be to get a professional.

if you're determined to do it without professional help the best thing to do is to start training your dog to "heel", sit when you stop, etc. The more rigid the training the better off you'll be. You have to start the training in an area with no other dogs around, and slowly build up skills before you expose her to other dogs. As she gets better you can move to areas where other dogs may be around. That's going to take time and patience. When you build a walking skill set your dog KNOWS what to do while walking...and barking or growling isn't a part of that.

Your dog needs to learn socialization, unfortunetly this is a schnauzer trait if they are not trained properly early on. Yelling at your dog will make the problem worse because they feel you are punishing them because they are not as defensive as you want them to be. You need to distract your dog as another dog approachs. Teach your dog behaviors such as sit, down, and stay, and to watch you. When on the walk and another dog is approaching put your dog into a sit or down and stay have treats on hand to keep your dogs attention. When your dog breaks the stay say eh-eh sit or down and stay again use your treat to get her attention so she listens and obeys again. Only give the treats when she is in a stay and is not barking, but use the treats to keep her attention. You may need some help from a trainer.

as stated already, that is a common schnauzer trait if not corrected early.. (I currently have my mothers two male standards and both of them do it.. grr..) I suggest you try and watch The Dog Whisperer.. he really has some good suggestions that you pick up without realizing it.. Everytime I walk all three of the dogs (I have a beagle mix of my own) it gets a little easier.. and Good Luck..

Please, please, please don't hit your dog!

I had the same problem with my Schnauzer, Bingo. He went nuts when I was walking him and we met other dogs. I adopted him when he was about 8 months old and I lost him when he was around 12 years old. I don't know if he was traumatized before I got him and feared other dogs, but he never got over going nuts when we met other dogs. Sadly I had to quit walking him altogether because too many people were letting their dogs roam free and they ran up to my dog and tried to fight him. I feared for his safety and mine because I always jumped between the dogs to break up the fight. I miss my little boy he was a perfect sweetheart. I wish you good luck. I hope someone can help you with this problem.

a muzzle or one of those halti things can help. i recommend the halti. put the collar as high up on the neck as possible cuz that's the weakest point, and your dog will giv in to the pulling faster as he can't handle it.
