Mark 7
14And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
16If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Too bad people don't know that the Greek words play-ro'-o and tel-eh'-o are synonyms, like fulfill and finish.

A Christian can eat a prawn salad sandwich.
You are correct in your quotation of Lev 11:12 'Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.'
However Jesus did say, in the Gospel of Matthew (15:11)
"What goes into the man's mouth does not make him 'unclean', but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean'."
This means that the Jewish law about food was no longer needed to be lived to as Jesus only commands us to love our neighbour and love your God with all your mind, soul and strength.

The message was not intended for Christians, as they didn't even exist in the time of Leviticus. It was the laws of the Torah handed down to the Jews. Jews are not allowed to eat shrimp or prawns, among other things, such as any pig meat; pork, ham or bacon. These foods are considered unclean or not kosher.
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, and he didn't make his appearance until the new testament. Christians can eat anything they like, as the old laws in Leviticus were exonerated when Christ died for their sins.

Yes. The New Testament tells us that the food laws are no longer in effect and that all is now fit to be eaten.

Paul didn't say this Jesus did!
Matthew 15:11
It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."

What would be the point for a Christian? The "abomination" doesn't come from what a person puts into his or her mouth, but by what comes out of it.

As a Christian, I am not bound by dietary laws.
But I won't eat that nasty stuff, anyhow...in my opinion, it tastes like an abomination! YUCK!
I can wear cotton blends.
But I prefer pure cotton...especially in Alabama, in the summertime.
Hey, maybe God knows something we don't, eh??

Interesting, no? We Jews still abide by the laws; the Christians have verses that say that Jesus didn't come to change the law, but to "fulfill it" (whatever that means), and in another book say that it's ok to eat all that forbidden stuff like pork and shellfish. Go figure.

Jesus said I can eat anything I want. The law was for Israel only during that time, and now doesn't apply to them or me. It's explained perfectly clearly in the Bible, assuming you dont cherry pick like you did.
