My granny just got me a frieghtliner and i know how to drive it but i wanna start doin it for a living. all i know is that u can get one in california but you cant go out the state. is that the same with texas?

I believe that you can obtain your CDL and drive ONLY IN STATE.... no Hazardous materials though. If I remember correctly, you may not be required to obtain one IF you work on a farm and drive within 50 miles of the farm to haul feed and equipment.... Best bet is to take a field trip to the DMV or check out their website for more detailed state specific info. Hope this helps and good luck, drive safe!

You can get a CDL at 18 in texas, but in general, not many trucking companies will hire you till you are either 21 or 25. I work for a charter bus company and we won't even consider anyone under 25 years of age. It has to do with the maturity level of the driver.

Sorry, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules Section 390, you must be at least 21 years of age to obtain a Commercial Driver's License.

You can get a CDL that limits you to driving in texas. To get one for driving out of Texas, you need to be 21. No matter what you get, you will have some hefty insurance payments.
