The reason he wants you to stay away from red meat is that it is extremely hard to digest. A tablespoon of high quality honey 3 times a day & 2 Probiotic capsules a day really help me. Also try & avoid caffeine, chocolate, & the sweetener Sorbitol. You wouldn't believe how many foods have Sorbitol in them, make sure you read the ingredient label. It is alot of salad dressings & sauces. Hope this helps! Good luck!

No, it isn't a funny question. Everyone has issues like this at one point in their life. It does not sound like IBS to me but I do think you should see a professional. If you think you are constipated you may want to go to the pharmacy as they will be able to recommend something until you can see a doctor. A normal, healthy adult doesn't get constipated unless their is an issue usually.

My husband has crohn's disease, he would follow the same diet as someone with IBS. He's had it for about 7 years now and has never been told to avoid red meat. The foods that most usually cause flare ups are nuts, seeds, some raw veggies such as broccili, celery and onion. Every person's disease is different, but I have never heard of avoiding red meat. Actually, we've been told that a meat & potato diet is probably easier on his stomach.

I had to cut out spicy foods, cut back on tomato based foods, and limit my alcohol consumption. Basically as soon as I started to eat better I started to feel better. It can't hurt to try a new diet. If it works, you'll feel better and won't have to worry about the quality and cleanliness of the nearest public facility. If it doesn't work you are no worse off than when you started.

I found that avoiding fatty foods especially fried things helped. If you are going to eat meat prepare it yourself and choose pieces with lesser fat and use oil or butter sparcely. My doctor also advised to increase my fiber but I found that it irritiates it even more. So I just deal with being sick. But it's a good idea to write down what you eat for a couple weeks and what makes you sick.
