With the deep cleaning they go below your gums to clean away calculus and bacteria. You will be numb so at most you will just feel a little presure. You will be able to go back to school. Your gums may be a little sore, rinse with warm salt water and an over the counter pain med should work. It will take around an hour.

Well since your in school i'm assuming you are younger. Ususally a deep cleaning takes about a half hour to an hour depending on how dirty the area is! You really want to start flossing and brushing on a much more timely scale b/c yes it will hurt! You have the beginning of periodontal disease and it gets really ugly! Be glad your getting this taken care of now! Lay off the coffee, tea, juice, and SODA!!!!! And brush and floss after every meal and when you wake up! Trust me the harder you are on yourself the less it will hurt later on!

HELLO ARTHUR,

HEATHER K.HAD AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE. WHEN YOU ARE NUMBED YOU WON'T FEEL THE TREATMENT. AS SHE SAID SOME OTC PAIN MEDS LIKE IBUPROFEN WILL TAKE THE EDGE OFF ANY DISCOMFORT. GOOD LUCK.
