Love, lust and infatuation. When you feel like you love someone and you finally get them into bed and all you have in common is sex, that is called LUST. When you feel like you love someone and once they become familiar to you and you feelings are no longer strong for them, that is INFATUATION. When you want to be with someone all the time and you love everything they do and everything they say, you have no problems with their nasty little habits and tolerate their bad breathe, their bad jokes, their holitosis of the feet, their snoring, their farting, their family and a host of other things you wouldn't sanely put up with from anyone else, then that is LOVE. (or insanity and one can easily pass for the other at times). There is no set time limit on love. It can last for a month, or it can last for a lifetime. The one constant about love is tolerance. When you love somebody, you can tolerate anything about that person. Love can begin to thin where the tolerance levels begin wane. Familiarity can be a big factor in the waning of love. If you want to know what true love looks like, have a look at a dog with it's owner. That dog loves it's owner "unconditionally" and that is true love. A parent will always love their child. Parental love will make a parent lay down his life for his child. Why would a parent run into hell, a burning house to try and save their child? Love.
Shakespeare wrote "Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."
Then there is "Greater love than this no man hath than to lay down his life for his friends.'" John 15:13

True love has no end. Lustful love lasts as long as the lust...could be days/months/years.

from what i've read years before, love happens because of a chemical reaction that occurs in the brain. it lasts for only 18 months. however, people can stay together if they know how to commit. you've got to work at it. :) i still believe in forever. :)

For as long as two people are willing to work together at making it last. People give up too easily.
