Yes, God forgives everything even unkept promises.

Remember when Peter told Jesus that he would never deny Him and then later denied Him three times. Of coarse he was forgiven and then was filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost and became one of the greatest of apostles.

If your son or daughter made you a promise and then couldn't keep it, would you stop loving him or her? There was only one in the history of this world that was perfect. The son of God. He came and sacrificed Himself so that all of us lying, cheating, backsliding imperfect earthlings could through the covering of His righteousness have everlasting life.

If we confess and repent God always forgives.

In the Old Testament, God forgives cases of broken vows, and a sin offering is required: see link.

For Christians, Christ is the one who is sacrificed for our sins. God sent Christ to die for us because he is merciful to us. God is not reluctant to have mercy but is doing his best to show mercy at every opportunity.

To the answer above: See the examples of Abraham, and John the baptist's parents, they also prayed for years with no positive answer, but God finally gave them a son. See also Paul and his thorn in the flesh: sometimes God does not answer our prayers the way we want him to, but he gives us grace to bear it.

I don't think god has mercy on anyone. Both my husband and I have been praying for years for improvements in our health and we haven't seen any indication yet that he's listening.

god will throw you into the lake of fire and burn all that fat off of your back for your insolence... i would anyway. try not eating cheeseburgers instead of making empty promises.
